Google has sent a legal notice to all the personal yet unregistered advertisers of Google Ads in Bangladesh to add their 13 digit Business Identification Number (BIN) to comply with the local laws. They have mentioned they need to collect this BIN number for VAT registration purposes as per the Government directive which is 15% at this point.
They also warned the advertisers, that if they do not provide the updated 13 digit BIN by April 1, 2021. Google will cut 15% of their advertising expense after that date.
How can you add this?
They provided this instruction to add it to your Google Ads account:
- Sign in to the Google payments center.
- Select Settings from the top menu.
- In the “Bangladesh Tax Info” section, click the pencil icon and enter your Business Identification Number in the “Business Identification Number” field.
- Click Save.

This also means now the advertisers do not have the option to skip the 15% VAT when they are running advertisements from Bangladesh. Google carefully mentioned in the email that,
Google can’t advise you on tax matters, so please contact your tax adviser for any questions regarding this change.
What does it mean?
This means, Google is not liable if you do not provide your VAT documents to the national board of revenue. While they are surely going to share the information of the advertisers who provided 13 digit BIN.
We also recommend you start the VAT registration and application process to keep your Google Ads account compliant with the local laws.
